In the dim basement, a silver-haired girl in a long robe and a magic hat was drawing a massive magic circle on the bluestone-tiled floor with special chalk.
After drawing the magic circle, the silver-haired girl took out several emerald-green magic stones from her pocket, held them in her palm, kneaded them into delicate magic power, and infused it into the circle, all while softly chanting some incomprehensible yet impressive-sounding incantations.
As if performing a ritual to summon a servant, the magic circle at the girl’s feet began to emit a bright blue light as more and more magical energy was poured in.
The surrounding air also began to flow rapidly, gently swaying the girl’s skirt.
However, the moment the incantation was complete, the air suddenly erupted with a violent fluctuation, shattering all the bottles and jars on the corner cabinet and filling the room with dust.
Seeing the magic circle beneath her feet lose its light once again, the silver-haired girl couldn’t help but sigh softly.
“Failed again? Just where did it go wrong?”
Looking at the parchment in her hand, the silver-haired girl scratched her head in confusion.
“Lady Charlotte! Are you alright?”
Just then, a blonde maid entered the basement, walked to Charlotte’s side, and asked with a worried expression.
The silver-haired girl, however, replied with a nonchalant look.
“I am Charlotte, the strongest Star Witch! How could anything possibly happen to me?”
After seeing the parchment in Charlotte’s hand, the blonde maid began to complain about her willful master.
“There you go again, Lady Charlotte. I’ve told you time and again not to try these spells of unknown origin, but you just won’t listen. What if you accidentally bring the entire Star-Track Tower crashing down?”
“Don’t you worry, Lillian. Even if an accident really did happen, I’d be able to get you out safely before this tower collapsed.”
“Preventing the tower from collapsing should be your top priority! This is your most important residence, after all!”
Lillian retorted with a look of dissatisfaction.
Who would have thought that the willful master before her was the world-renowned Star Witch, Charlotte.
From the moment she was born, Charlotte possessed immense magical power. Not only that, but her speed in learning magic was also top-tier; she could master any spell after being taught just once.
More importantly, while others had to wave a magic wand to use magic and ride a broomstick to fly, Charlotte was completely unbound by such limitations. She could effortlessly cast all sorts of powerful spells without even chanting an incantation. Soaring through the heavens and burrowing into the earth was as simple as eating a meal for her; she was nothing short of a magical genius.
Possessing such extraordinary talent, Charlotte earned the title of Star Witch even before graduating from the magic academy, becoming the most powerful witch in the world.
But it was this very same powerful witch who was often concocting strange and bizarre spells every few days. Because these spells didn’t belong to any known magical system, their failure rate was extremely high, and blowing up the entire Star-Track Tower had become a common occurrence.
This was what troubled Lillian the most.
“Putting that aside, Lillian, how is that person doing now?” Charlotte tried to change the subject.
Lillian just shook her head gently.
“The same as ever. Dazed and unresponsive, it’s impossible to have a normal conversation with her.”
“Well, that’s a problem. I was hoping to ask her how to use this cross-world magic.”
Charlotte scratched her head, looking troubled.
“I doubt she would tell her enemy the method even if she were back to normal.”
This was a world brimming with magical energy, where the Human Clan and the Demon Clan were separated by the insurmountable Boundary Mountain Range, having lived in peace for hundreds of years.
But a month ago, the Demon Clan assembled a massive joint army, crossed the Boundary Mountain Range, and launched a mighty invasion against their Kingdom of York. The kingdom immediately sent a request for joint military operations to the magic academy.
Charlotte had received the request at the time, but because she was busy tinkering with a magical puppet that could clean automatically, she hadn’t noticed its arrival at all. It was only after Lillian’s reminder that Charlotte had rushed frantically to the battlefield.
As it turned out, she was back in less than half a day, and she brought with her a red-haired girl who was in ragged clothes, had a vacant stare, and wore a red collar around her neck.
Charlotte explained that by the time she reached the battlefield, the human army and the demon joint army were already locked in a fierce and heated battle. Both sides were seeing red, to the point where they could barely distinguish friend from foe.
After searching for a long time without finding the commander of the human forces, she took matters into her own hands, randomly picked a demon girl who was mowing down everyone in the crowd as her opponent, and in a flash, she had dragged her hundreds of meters into the sky. After a barrage of attacks, she smashed the girl headfirst into the ground.
When the demon joint army saw this, they immediately broke ranks and fled.
It was only afterward that she learned from a human military officer that the opponent she had just picked happened to be the leader of the demon joint army, the Blood Clan’s True Ancestor, Feiye Zhenhong.
After the Demon Clan was defeated in a bloody war with the Human Clan a thousand years ago, they fell into deep internal chaos. Various clans fought amongst themselves, leaving them with no strength to cross the Boundary Mountain Range and invade the human territories.
The Blood Clan was originally the weakest of the demon clans, but under the leadership of Feiye Zhenhong, they gradually grew stronger, becoming the most powerful clan and ending the centuries of internal strife.
She thought she had the protagonist’s script, but right after leaving the Boundary Mountain Range, she ran into a naturally gifted opponent and was unable to win despite giving it her all.
The True Ancestor was beaten into a stupor, left soulless and at Charlotte’s mercy.
And so, Feiye Zhenhong, her magic completely drained, was picked up by Charlotte. Wearing a collar that could seal her magic, she now lay on a small bed in a room that not even an XX could escape from, drooling and babbling “ababa” all day.
The parchment now in Charlotte’s hands had been found on Feiye Zhenhong.
Judging by the text, it seemed to record a cross-world spell, capable of breaking through the limits of dimensions to reach another world.
Charlotte’s interest was immediately piqued upon seeing the parchment, but unfortunately, after a whole month of research, she had been unable to replicate the spell.
Oh well, what’s done is done. Time to eat first.
Charlotte put away the parchment and turned to leave the basement, but she carelessly knocked over a candle on the table, which instantly set the parchment in her hand ablaze.
This gave Charlotte a fright, and she instinctively dropped the burning parchment onto the floor.
“Oh no, my parchment!”
Charlotte was about to use a chantless water spell to extinguish the flames, but at that very moment, the previously dim magic circle at her feet suddenly lit up with blue light again.
Blue flames blazed fiercely, and in an instant, a void rift appeared above the magic circle.
“Eh? This is… I succeeded?”
Seeing the appearance of the void rift, Charlotte was overjoyed and couldn’t help but move closer to it.
Lillian, who was beside her, saw this and quickly reached out a hand to stop her.
“Lady Charlotte! Don’t get too close, it might be dangerous inside!”
But Charlotte simply smiled and pushed down the hand Lillian was using to block her.
“Don’t you worry. I’m the strongest Star Witch. Even the strongest True Ancestor of the Demon Clan was no match for me. How could a mere void rift possibly harm me!”
“Hmm…” Lillian was left speechless and could only acquiesce to Charlotte’s little whim.
“I’ll just go take a quick peek. I’ll be back soon.”
“I can’t do anything with you, Lady Charlotte. You must remember to come back!”
“Mhm! I will definitely come back!”
With those words, Charlotte, the strongest Star Witch, stepped into the void rift, embarking on a journey to another dimension.
