With Gu Yao now running a fever, only Li Yanqi and Guo Rongrong remained in the dormitory.

After eating some bread with a short shelf life, the two went downstairs to confirm that the dormitory building’s main entrance and surrounding windows were securely closed before returning to their room.

For safety, Li Yanqi also temporarily disabled the elevator.

“There’s a gap at the fifth floor. Even if monsters break through the door, we should be safe on the seventh floor for now,” Li Yanqi said.

Guo Rongrong gave her a thumbs-up. She was currently trying to gather information about the outside world. Despite her appearance, she was a legitimate computer science professor at the school.

Although the internet signal was down, Guo Rongrong discovered that a few official domestic websites were still accessible, albeit extremely slowly. She managed to view a few video news reports.

Li Yanqi stood behind her, watching as well.

As she expected, it wasn’t just Nancheng City— the entire country, and even the world, was facing identical geological disasters and viral outbreaks.

The video news referred to those infected with the virus as “zombies.”

“Due to the temporary paralysis of various government functions, including railway transportation, normal operations are currently impossible. We are working on notifying the public to organize self-rescue efforts. Please stay away from anyone bitten or scratched by zombies. While protecting yourself from being bitten or scratched, try to find a safe place to hide…”

The news wasn’t delivered by a professional anchor, but Li Yanqi found the information valuable, as it at least informed them of the situation outside.

However, there wasn’t a single news report urging people to take up weapons to kill or fight zombies.

This was understandable, as no one would dare take responsibility for encouraging people to risk their lives.

“Zombies…”

Guo Rongrong watched real-time video footage from the streets. If the news described zombies as lifeless, the crowded streets in the videos were now devoid of any living humans…

“It looks like rescue won’t be coming anytime soon,” Li Yanqi said, pointing at the scenes in the videos.

Collapsed buildings from the earthquake still littered the roads, and the distance was clogged with cars. Some cars seemed to have people inside, surrounded by zombies relentlessly pounding on the vehicles.

With the roads in such a state, ground transportation was likely unusable. Guo Rongrong felt utterly hopeless.

“I don’t know how long our food will last,” Guo Rongrong said weakly, leaning against a bench.

“Teacher Guo, have you considered that if we stay here, we’ll eventually run out of options?” Li Yanqi voiced her thoughts. The dormitory was safe for now, but their food supply was limited. If they remained trapped, starvation was inevitable.

“Are you saying we should leave and find a place with food?” Guo Rongrong asked, beginning to understand why Li Yanqi wasn’t just an ordinary college student. Her way of thinking was far from typical.

“Yes, but only if we can ensure our safety,” Li Yanqi replied, finding it much easier to talk to Guo Rongrong than to Gu Yao.

“I agree with your idea, but we’ll need to wait until Fu Ying and Gu Yao recover. With just the two of us, it’s impossible,” Guo Rongrong said realistically. As a pregnant woman, her condition was particularly life-threatening in such times.

[Anyone want to predict when Guo Rongrong will be written off?]

[Soon, probably. A pregnant woman can’t survive in those conditions.]
