067: For Me And My Viewers

After seeing Gabi off, I turned my computer back on. There were surprisingly many people still in the chat even though the stream was off.

Would it be rude to think they had nothing better to do? Maybe they were just waiting for me while doing something else. Or perhaps they had been busy with other tasks and forgot they still had the stream open.

If I had returned later, viewers might have left to watch other channels. But my meeting with Gabi wasn't as long as expected, which might be why they were still here.

Whether they stayed intentionally or accidentally, I was grateful they waited, so I immediately turned the stream back on.

"I'm back. I see some of you were waiting for me."

Thanks to the viewers, I found my smile again. When people wait for you like this, how can you not come right back?

Of course, it's also because I don't have much else to do. I don't have any reason to go outside. And at home, there's not much to do besides playing games like this.

Doing nothing is an option too, I suppose. But naturally, people want to do something enjoyable.

- TearRipper: Did your friend leave already?

- Starfall: Seems like a really tight timeframe to order delivery and finish eating...

- TearRipper: Yeah, delivery takes at least 30 minutes these days

The viewers seemed surprised I returned so quickly. It almost made me feel like I was interrupting their fun.

"Ah, my friend actually had dinner plans elsewhere. I'll treat her to something nice with your donations next time. We're meeting again in a couple of days."

I took a moment to explain, but the viewers were already distracted by something else and barely acknowledged what I said.

- ILoveSaucyFood: The Chinese restaurant near my house delivers jajangmyeon in 10 minutes lol

- TearRipper: Isn't that just pre-made food they're delivering?

- ILoveSaucyFood: No way that's possible fuck

- ILoveSaucyFood: I bet they start boiling noodles and stir-frying sauce the moment I order, then package it and deliver it right away

- MondayLover: As a current corporate kitchen chef, popular dishes are pre-cooked and served as orders come in

They had a point. It was quite an interesting topic of conversation.

The idea that delivery food might be pre-made rather than freshly prepared? That would upset me too.

Who wouldn't want freshly made food? Even I finish cup noodles before they cool down. Regardless of how tired I might be of them, ramen always tastes best right after it's cooked.

- ILoveSaucyFood: No way!!!

- MondayLover: But it doesn't affect hygiene or taste, so don't worry

- MondayLover: When I say "pre-made," everything gets used within 5 minutes

- MondayLover: For jajangmyeon, they'd ladle out sauce that's already simmering, boil fresh noodles, combine them, and send it out

- TearRipper: Were you a chef at a big company? Wow

- TearRipper: Like at Goryeo Hotel?

- MondayLover: Burger Queen

- TearRipper: LOL Burger Queen is definitely a big company chef LOL

- ILoveSaucyFood: No way jajangmyeon is like french fries!!

- MondayLover: Give up, there's no light here

After hearing the explanation, it made more sense. Cooking everything from scratch for each order would definitely take too much time.

"As long as they have high turnover, it's basically made fresh when ordered, so does it really matter?"

I decided to join the conversation. This was more interesting than explaining why I came back early.

- ILoveSaucyFood: That's true in theory... but what if they send something that was made 30 minutes ago because no orders came in?

- ILoveSaucyFood: That's unacceptable!

"That would be a problem. They definitely shouldn't pre-make things in that case..."

- MondayLover: Yeah that's why this method only works for popular restaurants

- MondayLover: And only for items that can sit for about 10 minutes

- MondayLover: Like burger joint fries, Chinese restaurant black bean sauce, jjamppong broth, etc.

- MondayLover: Noodles obviously have to be boiled after the order comes in

- TearRipper: If an industry insider says so, just accept it

- TearRipper: You're happy your jajangmyeon arrives in 10 minutes anyway

- ILoveSaucyFood: Arghhhh give me the red pill...!

- ILoveSaucyFood: This can't be... I need to get a job at a Chinese restaurant to make sure this doesn't happen!!!

- TearRipper: So what's the conclusion?

The conclusion was one viewer dreaming of becoming a Chinese cuisine chef. The conversation had taken such a strange turn, but I just sat there chuckling.

This must be why I enjoy streaming. Even meaningless conversations become fun when everyone joins in.

- Qbaks: Did you guys see this?

- Qbaks: <Deleted link>

- Qbaks: Oh right, can't post links...

- Qbaks: Someone's attacking Noel saying she's bad at the game

- TearRipper: Another attack?

- Starfall: Kanchona sues trolls all the time, is someone still not getting the message??

- Qbaks: No no, they're not insulting her personally or attacking her family, just saying she's bad at the game

But of course, since I'm the host of this stream, eventually the conversation would turn back to me.

I always wanted my stream to focus on me and my gameplay. I'd ask viewers to refrain from discussing others, and when someone's personal information came up, I'd ask them to focus on my game instead.

But this topic wasn't particularly welcome.

It's funny. I don't think I'm that good at the game myself. But when someone else says I'm bad, it still hurts my feelings.

"Hmm, should we take a look? Can we find it by searching the League of Champions community?"

- Qbaks: Yeah

- TearRipper: Why are you trying to start fires with someone who's minding their own business...

- Qbaks: Wouldn't you be mad if you got hit while minding your own business? Let's reach Grandmaster and teach them a lesson

- SilverPanthea: What? Noel is going for Grandmaster now?

- SilverPanthea: *sob* She was my little Master...

- TearRipper: What are you suddenly talking about?

So I searched for the post the viewer mentioned. It wasn't hard to find. There were many posts mentioning my name, but only a few had malicious titles.

[I want to break Noel's crutches] - StephenHawkingsRockingChair

I hope she starts using a wheelchair soon

[Wish the disabled Noel would disappear] - HungryTeddyBear

I wish disabled Noel would disappear and be reborn as normal Noel

(photo)

I'm going to study at New Seoul University's Department of Biotechnology

I'll research stem cells and eliminate all disabled people in the world

Most were half-jokes mixed with affection that made me chuckle, but the post deliberately trying to tear me down definitely had malice to it.

[Noel<< Total fraud, just benefiting from the headbutt dinosaur meta] - LoCSeeking Coach

I admit she has good reaction speed

Her skill shot accuracy shows her laning skills are definitely good

But that's it

Kids these days are so skilled that even Gold players can do what she does

It's only working now because the meta lets you play headbutt dinosaur with suppression bones

When the season shifts to require more macro, she'll be stuck in Diamond 1 or 2 at best

Beast-like instincts for avoiding ganks? That's bullshit

It's just that other inflated Masters are so bad at acting that she can read them

If her opponent doesn't see ally jungle pings, she gets ganked and dies

Throw her in Bronze and she'd be like "what the fuck" and die

She'd just feed, lose lane, and be useless

It's disgusting how everyone sucks up to her just because she's a girl in Master

Feeling sorry because she's disabled? Having both hands means no penalty for playing League of Champions

It's laughable how people talk about "overcoming disability" LOL

- DdeuDdaDdeuDdeuDda: Fact) Noel climbed from Silver step by step

ㄴ LoCSeeking Coach: Yeah, that's why I'm saying she benefited from the meta

- wiiwi: You have no eye for the game but you can be a LoC coach?

ㄴ LoCSeeking Coach: Can't refute so you attack the messenger LOL

- LifeAchievementChallenger: For real, blindly praising streamers ruins the community

ㄴ LoCSeeking Coach: Many joker haters were born because of toxic fandoms, yeah

Reading this detailed post made me feel bad, honestly. Sure, when you play League of Champions, you get used to exchanging insults. But who actually enjoys being insulted?

I try to brush it off because getting angry would just be a waste of time and emotion, since it doesn't affect me anyway.

But now that I'm streaming, doubts about my skills could make viewers lose interest. People come to my stream to watch my gameplay, after all.

"Hmm. I don't need to explain myself about this, right? Unlike when I was accused of cheating."

- TearRipper: Yeah, just ignore it

- Qbaks: Just reach Grandmaster and they'll shut up LOL

- TearRipper: Not everyone can reach Grandmaster... are you just here to stir things up?

- Qbaks: I was just worried and wanted to let you know, that's harsh ㅋ

Honestly, I was thinking along the same lines. A username I'd never seen before comes to share this information? They probably came to start a fight or at least fan the flames on this topic.

I thought not responding would be best, but I want to give something back to the viewers who support me. At least the satisfaction of knowing the streamer they watch is actually good at the game.

Does that really matter? Probably not. But if we start questioning everything like that, we get into "what's the point of life if we're all going to die anyway?" territory. So I try to keep it simple.

"Well, if I said I was bad at the game, that would be deceptive given my tier. But I can't really claim I'm good either. I'm not at a pro gamer level. Master tier is actually quite ambiguous."

I try to act nonchalant as I start the game and immediately queue up.

"It's just a post written to make me feel bad, and I don't have much else to say about it. I think I'll just keep playing like I have been. If I maintain my tier even after the meta changes, that naturally refutes them, and if my tier drops, then they were right."

That's what I said, but I still felt bad. I think I need to change my game style a bit. Instead of just winning my lane and having fun on my own, I should focus on winning the game as the ultimate goal.
