The distribution of zombies around the dormitory was crystal clear in Li Yanqi’s mind. She pushed open the door to Dorm 113 and unlocked the window she and Gu Yao had previously secured.
'Click.'
The sound of the window opening echoed, followed by a purplish-black, rotting hand reaching in and grabbing the window frame.
'Roar!'
Despite the early warning from that hand, Fu Ying and the audience couldn’t help but feel their hearts skip a beat when they saw the zombie’s face.
It was a male zombie, its hair partially torn out, exposing a rotting scalp. This was likely a zombie that had eaten humans, as its chest and sleeves were stained with hardened, brownish blood.
“Come on in,” Li Yanqi said, stepping back. There was only one zombie outside Dorm 113, so she planned to lure it inside.
The zombie clumsily climbed in, then lunged at Li Yanqi without hesitation!
The desks and chairs in the dorm restricted its movements, but the zombie’s excitement at seeing a living person gave it tremendous force, scattering the furniture in an instant.
Li Yanqi, however, was even more agile. As the zombie climbed in, she swiftly darted behind it and slammed the window shut.
“It’s starting, Fu Ying! Watch out, don’t get bitten!” Li Yanqi shouted to Fu Ying, who was holding a large metal shield. Fu Ying’s strength had clearly increased, evident from the heavy metal plate she wielded.
“Got it! I can do this!”
Fueled by her dream of becoming an invincible heroine, Fu Ying got serious. She wasn’t helpless; she had trained with Li Yanqi at Jinyuan Villa in the past.
'Clang!'
The zombie slammed into the metal shield in front of Fu Ying, the impact forcing her back a few steps.
“I’ll take it down, you hold your ground!”
Hearing Li Yanqi’s voice, Fu Ying braced herself. But then she saw Li Yanqi pull a long sword—the one she had made earlier—seemingly out of thin air. The sight stunned her. Was Yanqi performing magic now?
'Slash!'
The sword swung down from behind the zombie, silencing it instantly as it was busy trying to grab Fu Ying.
Various unidentifiable fluids splattered, and Li Yanqi gave Fu Ying a thumbs-up with satisfaction.
Fu Ying hadn’t screamed or run away in panic, which was already impressive.
“It… doesn’t seem 'that' hard, right?” Fu Ying said with a smile, though the trembling shield in her hands betrayed her.
“I think so too. The next one’s on you. I’m feeling a bit queasy,” Li Yanqi said, pretending to pant as if she were unwell.
Queasy? She was joking—she wasn’t nauseous at all. In fact, she was kind of excited!
Having lived through this world once before, everything felt familiar. Most importantly, in her previous life, she didn’t have the physical prowess or strength to fight zombies like this.
“Alright, I’ll head out first. Watch your step!”
Fu Ying rushed out, pushed open a random dorm room door, found the bathroom, and started retching uncontrollably.
The zombie’s stench was overwhelming—she had never smelled anything so foul. But then she remembered Li Yanqi’s earlier move and quickly rinsed her mouth at the faucet before running back out.
“Yanqi, where did you pull that sword from just now?” Fu Ying asked.
“Oh, right, I forgot to tell you. While you were unconscious, Gu Yao and I discovered it,”
Li Yanqi said. She hadn’t planned to hide it from Fu Ying and proceeded to explain her modest backpack ability.
