"Noel's Giving Out Burgers on Stream LOL" - TearRipper
She's doing 1v1 top lane battles in order and giving burgers to whoever beats her
- Hexdrinker: I'm at school right now... Should I skip my 1 PM lecture to join?
ㄴ TearRipper: Are you serious?
ㄴ Hexdrinker: I can attend lectures anytime, but the chance to eat a burger Noel gives out might not come again
- SmoothCriminal: How many matches so far?
ㄴ TearRipper: 5 matches
ㄴ QueenLexia: Each match takes less than 5 minutes so the turnover is super fast LOL
ㄴ Festest: Beat Noel and you'll get a burger too
ㄴ RepairAbyss: How many people have gotten burgers?
ㄴ TearRipper: 0 people
ㄴ RepairAbyss: Then what's the point? --
["Smiling happily as I went to do a top lane battle after hearing Noel was giving out burgers LOL"] - ThisGuyJustNow
Thumbs up if you came for the free burgers, thumbs down if you saw Noel gritting her teeth and playing seriously while pretending to give them out LOL
- Dedica: Seriously, anyone who enters League of Champions during weekday lunch hours must be pretty dedicated to gaming, how has not a single person beaten her?
ㄴ Hexdrinker: If anyone could beat her, they'd be a pro --
ㄴ Melee: For real, how can anyone win when she's not even thinking about letting people win and is playing with full concentration?
ㄴ Dedica: LOL But you could just counter-pick her since she's first-picking
ㄴ KTC014: But Noel just devours counter-picks with Jackson LOL
ㄴ Hodir: Whether it's Pantheon, Illaoi, Dinger, Vladimir, or Malphite, none of them stand a chance against Noel's Jackson LOL
["Jackson is good, but isn't he only good against two-damage dealers and has clear counters?"] - Arena
Counter-picks in top lane are so clear that it's hard to overcome unless there's more than a one-tier difference – Fact
No, once you build enough mastery, hard lane counters are impossible to overcome, masters just turn it around through macro – What even pros say
I firmly believed these words and went in, but got absolutely destroyed
Even when my health was in a better state, she charged at me like crazy
Honestly, I thought I had the advantage
But I lost by single-digit HP difference...
I don't understand how she sees these opportunities
- GoldenBell: Masters always see creative kill opportunities LOL
ㄴ Envie: Yeah, she probably has enough data from previous fights to know exactly how to win
ㄴ OrangeBlack: I've played Jackson for 3,000 games, why can't I play like Noel?
ㄴ PoorBaby: That's because you're...
---
I usually don't get distracted when I'm gaming.
During combat, I obviously can't take my eyes off my opponent.
Even when regrouping or returning to lane, I need to track the enemy team's movements.
The battlefield in League of Champions changes every moment.
If I can dramatically shift the tide of battle by participating, it's better to join the fight using Teleport.
Of course, that decision point is tricky.
If I need to go, it means the skirmish could change the entire direction of the game.
In such cases, not joining would be foolish.
But right now, I'm in one-on-one battles with viewers.
What people call "top bread" fights are short by nature.
You win by being the first to kill 100 minions, destroying the opponent's turret, or defeating your opponent.
Any of these three conditions satisfies what everyone calls the "national rule."
Once a fight ends, I can check the chat and fan cafe reactions right away.
That's enjoyable in its own way.
"I'm reading the fan cafe. You think I'm gritting my teeth because I don't want to give out hamburgers? That's mean. My doctor actually told me to manage my stress. I'm taking it easy."
- TearRipper: Taking it easy (while dodging point-blank skill shots with impossible reaction speed)
- Sistato: For real LOL I almost suspected you of cheating~
- LegendaryReturn: Using bushes to cancel three auto attacks from your opponent and you call that taking it easy? Stop lying
- SilverPanthea: Wow what guild is this
When I spoke casually like that, viewers showered me with jeers.
They probably thought I'd share the hamburger gift certificates with them if I put them up as prizes.
That was my intention, but just giving them away through a raffle wouldn't be fun.
So as a top laner, I chose the time-honored way top laners communicate.
The viewers agreed.
I might take it easy, but I definitely won't let them win.
"Unless I make a mistake, I won't deliberately take hits or fall for obvious moves. Losing on purpose would be match-fixing and abusing the system. It would even hurt the opponent's pride. As a professional, that's absolutely forbidden. Oh, but I'm not a pro gamer anymore, so maybe it's okay?"
- SilverPanthea: Abuse is never okay LOL
- QueenLexia: Exactly LOL Even if you're retired, wrong is wrong LOL It's definitely not because I can't face Noel in a top lane battle LOL
- TearRipper: True, it would be disappointing to win because she let you
- BrickBreaker: Why can't you do the top battle?
- QueenLexia: I'm at work
- CRCE: Honestly, you can buy burgers anytime, but battling Noel is more valuable
- GFE2047: Am I the only one who jumped in just wanting a hamburger? LOL
- NoelBurgerThief: Thumbs up if you never had confidence to win anyway LOL
- Dedica: A top lane battle with an LCK champion top laner? Even losing is worth it, winning would be amazing LOL
Fortunately, it seemed their jeers weren't serious.
While they were disappointed about not getting hamburger gift certificates, they all seemed to agree with what I said.
But did they think I wasn't planning to share anything at all?
I'm different from those corrupt companies that circulate prizes among insiders or don't prepare prizes at all with no real winners.
"Look, I didn't prepare this in advance, but I've already bought gift certificates to give to you all. The way to get them is super simple. Just enter the private 1v1 waiting room and beat me. Easy, right?"
- TearRipper: Even when she tries to be nice, she still makes you want to call her a demon
- SilverPanthea: Host... that doesn't make you Uncle Bob...
- LuaC: Still, it's refreshing that she doesn't play cheap and just goes all in to win
- Sistato: For real, if she just completely dominated without giving any chance, we'd just feel the wall and it wouldn't be fun, but with matches decided by 3-4 HP difference, it's entertaining to watch LOL
- EZPZLemon: When I saw someone fighting in what looked like a losing position, I thought "Finally Noel's going to give up a burger!" but then she won and I was shocked
- NoelBurgerThief: I really thought I could win with Malphite... losing by such a small margin was so frustrating T_T
- Hexdrinker: You would've won by CS difference if you just kept lying low, but you lost because you engaged LOL What a shame
- NoelBurgerThief: Are you looking down on Silver? I miss CS even without being denied, don't underestimate me
- Paragon: What kind of argument is this...
When I showed my phone to the camera, the atmosphere completely changed.
While those who missed their chance at hamburgers were disappointed, the next challenger entered the waiting room.
Something occurred to me, so I spoke up again during champion selection.
"By the way, those who joined later might not know, but I was really struggling before. Not even that long ago, maybe two months back. When I ran out of money, I thought I'd just die, so I was just killing time playing this game."
While telling this story, I checked the chat as the game was loading.
As expected, everyone seemed solemn.
That wasn't my intention.
I just wanted to say that although it hasn't been long, a lot has happened, and I'm grateful for their support and for watching me.
The hamburgers were just an excuse.
But saying something like that directly would be embarrassing in this situation.
So I wracked my brain for a joke and delivered what I thought was my masterpiece.
"But thanks to all your support, you know what? Some of you might have thought you were making a safe bet when you made those promises, but in the end, you kept your word and gave me hamburgers, chicken, pizza, and all that. I've evolved from an aid recipient country to a donor country. Just like our nation's growth story."
- TearRipper: LOL I didn't expect that joke of all things LOL
- SilverPanthea: Host, give me back my emotions LOL
- Quentina: LOL But those who've been watching from the beginning must really feel something...
- QueenLexia: Yeah, I thought she was good but didn't expect her to grow this big
And this time my hard-thought joke landed.
Most people seemed to be laughing out of disbelief, but still.
Usually when I make jokes about my eyes or feet, the atmosphere isn't great.
But they laugh at this kind of thing.
Maybe if I incorporate jokes into topics requiring some common knowledge or history, even jokes about disabilities would be better received?
While thinking about this and giving the current viewer a decent match, I received a whisper from Hyunseo in the in-game chat.
- CryingSSD: Just ate
- Noel: OK, top battle in 1 minute?
- CryingSSD: Yeah
- CryingSSD: Oh but Noel, about what I said earlier about bread...
- CryingSSD: That was just a joke and what I meant was
- Noel: I know
- CryingSSD: I wasn't really saying anything inappropriate, it was just the atmosphere
- CryingSSD: OK?
- Noel: Well, someone without a girlfriend might build up some frustration and say things online
- CryingSSD: No
- Noel: I'm setting up a kill opportunity so wait a bit
- CryingSSD: ;;
Leaving Hyunseo hanging for a moment.
Over the next minute, I methodically built up to take down the viewer.
I exchanged health evenly.
When we fought head-on, I took a slight disadvantage to make them think they could win.
Then, exchanging skills, I engaged at a timing where I could use one more skill than them during our clash.
Two warriors facing each other, both thinking they would win, neither thinking of retreat.
And at the end of that fight, surviving with barely visible health points was, once again, Jackson.
"Ah, that was close. Now I need to do a top battle with CryingSSD. I'll give Burger King gift certificates to everyone who's done 1v1 with me so far. Please capture your nickname verification from the fan cafe and upload it."
To end things on a good note for everyone.
Originally, I said I'd give hamburgers to those who beat me, but since no one managed to win.
I should at least prepare this much as a gift.
As viewers' mixed reactions of joy and disappointment filled the chat.
Now it was time to prepare for the duel with Hyunseo, who had become a woman.
- Noel: Is your hand okay? Should I give you a handicap?
- CryingSSD: Ha
- CryingSSD: Don't worry, kid
Only then did I ask if Hyunseo's hand was alright.
But perhaps because Hyunseo is a top laner too, she didn't want any pity.
She just responded proudly.
