Chapter 1: Long Skirt “Click.” In the darkness, thick as a stagnant pool, a faint sound echoed. A dim yellow light flickered on, hazily dispelling the surrounding gloom. On the crude, rough wooden bed, discarded and filthy cardboard was spread out. Spots of blood, oxidized over time, formed dark stains on the cardboard. Some areas, soaked through with blood, would easily tear with the slightest touch. On the blackwood nightstand sat a cake box, its origin unknown. Mold crept over every remnant inside the box.
