Prologue "Calion, are you ready?" Yenesia, already dressed up, walked into the Emperor’s bedroom. The room was bright with sunlight streaming through huge windows that spanned two floors. Sitting on a red velvet chair like a picture was a man being attended to by servants. His hair, usually left messy, was now neatly swept back, making his sharp, cold features stand out even more. When she walked closer, the man turned his head, sensing her presence. "Yenesia." He waved the servants away and stood up. Even though the heavy cape draped over his shoulders looked burdensome, his stride was steady and confident. When he stopped right in front of her, Yenesia had to tilt her head far back to meet his eyes—he was that tall. She briefly thought, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t have come in before he finished
