Chapter 1: The Serpent Digs Forward Through the Hole Thump-thump-thump-thump-thump , came the same endless sound, as a figure moved forward at a snail's pace. In their hands was a shovel. Around them was earth. Covered by soil even above their head, only the space behind them remained open. Beyond that, in this place with almost no light, it was swallowed by darkness, completely unseen. With two hands and two feet, in a human form, someone relentlessly swung a shovel, advancing through a hole that, for some reason, could be perfectly dug to a size of 2m x 2m x 10cm with a single stroke. This person had a crude cloth wrapped around their left eye, and a ragged cloth draped over their back, concealing a half-torn right wing and a left wing ripped from its root.
